1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the ScoreVitals mobile application ("App") or accessing the ScoreVitals website ("Website"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App or Website.

ScoreVitals is operated by ScoreVitals ("we", "us", or "our"). We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Description of Service

ScoreVitals is a passive fitness intelligence application that:

  • Reads health and fitness data from Apple HealthKit (iOS) or Google Health Connect (Android)
  • Calculates a daily health score (0–100) based on four pillars: cardio, sleep, recovery, and body composition
  • Provides a Readiness to Train score with training recommendations
  • Monitors acute-to-chronic workload ratio (ACWR) for injury risk awareness
  • Calculates per-session workout scores using TRIMP, efficiency, and heart rate recovery

ScoreVitals is free to download and use. There are no in-app purchases or paid subscription tiers.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years of age to use ScoreVitals. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent to use the App.

4. Account Registration

To use ScoreVitals, you must create an account using Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In. You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Providing accurate profile information including date of birth, gender, height, weight, and heart rate data

You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account.

5. Health Data and Medical Disclaimer

ScoreVitals is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition.

The scores, metrics, and recommendations provided by the App are for informational and motivational purposes only. They are derived from mathematical algorithms (including Banister's TRIMP, EWMA ACWR calculations, and Karvonen heart rate zones) applied to data collected by your device's health sensors.

  • Do not rely on ScoreVitals as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
  • Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting, modifying, or discontinuing any exercise programme
  • Readiness to Train and ACWR scores are algorithmic estimates and should not replace clinical judgement
  • If you experience pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, or any other symptoms during exercise, stop immediately and seek medical attention

6. Health Data Permissions

ScoreVitals requires access to health data through Apple HealthKit or Google Health Connect. By granting these permissions, you acknowledge that:

  • The App reads workout data, heart rate samples, sleep data, HRV, resting heart rate, weight, body fat percentage, and other vitals
  • This data is synced to our secure servers (Firebase) for processing and score calculation
  • You may revoke health data permissions at any time through your device settings, though this will affect the App's ability to calculate your scores

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App's servers or networks
  • Attempt to access another user's account or data
  • Use the App to transmit malicious software or harmful content
  • Manipulate or falsify health data submitted to the App
  • Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the App

8. Intellectual Property

All content, features, algorithms, designs, trademarks, and other intellectual property in the App and Website are owned by or licensed to ScoreVitals. This includes but is not limited to:

  • The ScoreVitals name, logo, and branding
  • Scoring algorithms and calculation methodologies
  • App design, user interface, and visual elements
  • Website content, copy, and graphics

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any of our intellectual property without prior written consent.

9. Accuracy of Data

The accuracy of your scores depends on the quality of data provided by your device's health sensors (Apple Watch, phone sensors, or connected wearables). We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of:

  • Heart rate measurements from your device
  • Sleep stage detection
  • Calorie estimates
  • Any derived scores or metrics

10. Service Availability

We strive to keep ScoreVitals available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The App may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, server issues, or circumstances beyond our control. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the service at any time.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • ScoreVitals is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied
  • We disclaim all warranties including, but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
  • We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App
  • We are not liable for any injury, health issue, or adverse outcome resulting from actions taken based on the App's scores or recommendations

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ScoreVitals, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to ScoreVitals at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the App ceases immediately
  • You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us
  • Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including limitation of liability and indemnification) will remain in effect

14. Third-Party Services

ScoreVitals integrates with third-party services including Apple HealthKit, Google Health Connect, and Firebase (Google Cloud). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party service providers.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic of South Africa.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and ScoreVitals regarding your use of the App and Website.
